Hello everyone. Today I have to make a sad announcement that up to further notice the development of version 2 is closed.
The reason is as simple as disappointing: At the moment we don’t have enough resources and manpower to face the bug fixes and further development of new features. Right now we are a three-person-team.
I’m currently involved in some other and bigger projects so I don’t have the time to test and debug all the issues of Version 2 myself. All I can do is maintain the process and do project management of the process while other developers do the actual work. And right now we don’t have these developers.
So unless someone is willing to voluntarily join our team on a non-profit base, there won’t be a Version 2.1
Since Version 1 is already very stable and bug-free, we still will provide security updates for it, with Catalinux we don’t have much work to do, this I still can manage on my own.
If you are interested in participate in the development of Version 2 and bring 2.1 on it’s way together with us, here is another important point: You need to be willing to accept that we don’t need guys with “fancy cool ideas” right now. We need guys that focus on bug fixing. And we know the bugs which are in Version 2. We work with asana and kanban-orientated project management. This means we have already work packages just waiting for someone to pick them up and work on them. This would be your job, to help us getting the work done. Everything else isn’t important right now because that’s what keeps us from proceeding with 2.1
Unless we find guys who are willing to help us out here, only Version 1 will still be maintained with security updates. I just can’t do it on my own anymore since iBuntu is the smallest of my projects right now.
Maybe we will develop a new version 3 and drop version 2 completely if we really don’t find anyone new for the team- but than definitely never ever KDE-based again. Since all, really ALL our current bugs and issues with version 2 are simply because of this crappy KDE..
I will announce here, if we ever will continue with the development of Version 2. Until than my advise would be to use our Version 1, since there we will still provice security updates and it’s bugfree and stable.
Thanks and so long

Hi,
Sad to hear this news. Also, about the bugs being with KDE, which is why I tried iBuntu. Here’s something interesting though. I added neon repositories to iBuntu and upgraded. Right now, I’m running KDE 5.21 beta and I don’t see anything breaking more than it should in a beta release.
That being said, I am not a developer or tester so cannot comment on the bugs and issues you have faced.
Cheers.
K
Hi. One of the major bugs is that you can’t create another user with Lix Sur and than log in with it normally. It always failed in our tests so far. But yeah we sadly don’t have the time right now for deeper Bugfixing. Also Version 1 can’t get another upgrade so far because we are waiting for Ubuntu 18.04.6 to come out before this it doesn’t make sense to do another Catalinux-Version on the same base-version of Ubuntu than 1.3 already is.
ibuntu needs more recognition i made a reddit post on how ibuntu should be more recognized

im getting ready to install this os
Don’t do this. Reddit Users are idiots why do you want us get roasted? Screw these retards, look what you did, no one there likes our project. Yeah you can say bad publicity is better than no one but no tin my eyes. Don’t feed the stupid Reddit-Trolls. Make some rumors about us on youtube or facebook but not reddit, reddit is full of crap. Thanks.
KDE >>> IS <<< Crap.
I used to be a big fan of KDE.
But not anymore.
Yes – so many clowns are jumping onto the KDE Bandwagon – thinking its hot.
But its really crap under the hood. The ditched KDE 3.5 to go to a clean interface – only to end up adding the same (if not more) sh*t to the core KDE system.
I would like to see you continue to develop the iBuntu model – if only to beat MacBuntu – which is good — but which (because its developer is Turkish) insisted on making Turk into the main language instead of English. I understand why – but its really short-sighted.
One of the things that really needs sorting is the top panel.
It is not even remotely like 'Finder' in MacOS.
This is virtually a problem with ALL Linux distros trying to emulate Mac.
For my money — consider going via Gnome or derivatives – Budgie or Cinnamon.
I feel the same way that’s why we really won’t continue develop Version 2 of iBuntu but we definitely continue support for Version 1 and also we are planning to release a Version 3 based maybe as you said on something like Budgie or Cinnamon, hooping that someone will come up with a solution for the top panel.
