iBuntu keyboard shortcuts
We give you some of the most common macOS Shortcuts which we addpated for iBuntu:
Cut, copy, paste, and other common shortcuts
- CTRL-X: Cut the selected item and copy it to the Clipboard.
- CTRL-C: Copy the selected item to the Clipboard. This also works for files in the Finder.
- CTRL-V: Paste the contents of the Clipboard into the current document or app. This also works for files in the Finder.
- CTRL-Z: Undo the previous command. You can then press Shift-Command-Z to Redo, reversing the undo command. In some apps, you can undo and redo multiple commands.
- CTRL-A: Select All items.
- CTRL-P: Print the current document.
- CTRL-S: Save the current document.
- CTRL-T: Open a new tab.
- F11: Show the desktop.
Use “Mission Control” on iBuntu
iBuntu offers features similar to the “Mission Control” Feature of macOS. It offers a bird’s-eye view of all your open windows, desktop spaces, and any apps in full screen or Split View, making it easy to switch between them.
Open “Mission Control”
- Swipe up or down with four fingers on your trackpad
- Press the “Windows” Control key on your keyboard.
- Press the 3rd Mouse Button (usually the Wheel-Button)
Add spaces and switch between them
The Spaces bar at the right of the Mission Control window contains thumbnails of each desktop space and each window that is in full screen.
To add a space, move your pointer to the Spaces bar, then click the blank space thumbnail at the bottom of the space List on the right side.
When you have multiple spaces, you can switch between them by clicking the thumbnails in the list at the right of the “Mission Control” window. Or use these methods, which work even when you’re not in the window overview:
- Swipe left or right with four fingers on your trackpad
- Press CRTL-ALT-Up Arrow or CRTL-Alt-Down Arrow on your keyboard.
Move windows to spaces
When you have more than one space, you can move windows to and from each space. Just drag the window onto the other space’s thumbnail in the Spaces bar.
If you drag a window onto an empty area of the Spaces bar, that window will create a new space with only this window in it in it:
If you drag a window onto the thumbnail of a full-screen app, that window joins the other window:
Move or remove spaces
To move a space, drag its thumbnail up or down to another space in the Spaces bar.
To remove a space, simply close all windows in it or move them to another desktop.
So as you can see with spaces you group windows on your desktop. You can create multiple spaces that act as virtual spaces. Spaces are one way to keep order and make it easy to move around the workspace.
You can use Spaces to better organize your work. For example, all the windows of communications applications, such as e-mail and instant messaging, could be on one desktop and all other applications on another desktop. Your music manager could then occupy another desktop.
