Lix Sur Release stopped due to major bug

Posted on October 16, 2020October 16, 2020 by ibuntu85

Hello to all fans and followers of iBuntu. Writing these lines is hard but there is no other way we all just need to go through it.

Yesterday evening we stopped the delivery of our newest Release of iBuntu 2.0 Lix Sur just hours after we announced it to the public.

We had to do so because we found a major zero-day-bug within the current ISO.

The current ISO has the problem that you can’t install it on modern hardware. Old legacy bios based systems won’t have any problems to run it but every UEFI-based Hardware will refuse to let it install or boot up after installation.

That’s why we need to stop it right here before more and more people are downloading it and face this issue.

We are so sorry that this bug never occured to us during our beta tests – which in a way we are thrown back to now with force…

Our team is already working on the bug analysis but after we discovered how deep this bug is affecting the whole system we can’t realy tell how long this will take. Could be days, could be weeks. Any given time frame in this situation would be pure speculation.

We will inform you all when the release finally will be back on track. Until than please stay tuned and if you didn’t already, subscribe to our newsletter to be sure you get informed when we will have fixed this major bug and offer you the fixed Release once again.

Thanks for your understanding and again we are very sorry the release didn’t went as planned

Yes we are really sorry about that – I hope we will soon be able to announce news about this topic but yes as of now Catalinux is still the main and stable Version of iBuntu until we fixed the issue with Lix Sur installation on UEFI based Hardware.

Please write in English. We translated your message and indeed this is a bug we could reproduce and will provide a fix for this with version 2.1 – Thanks for helping making iBuntu better 🙂
