Hi everyone. Since we are stuck right now with a bug in Calamres-Configuration which refuses to boot our System propperly after installation we came up with a workaround-solution to use lightdm instead of sddm as greeter. When you boot the system you need to manually enter your username and password for security reasons. Using this method might not be a well-rounded solution but a “perfect” bugfix might still can last for weeks. So we ask you now if we should wait for the well-rounded fix or release Lix Sur with the lightdm greeter as workaround-solution.
For a short answer, please just vote here – we keep the poll alive until the weekend:
In due time would you be able to re-release with the sddma as the greeter in the future?
Of course that would always be our main purpose. So when we will find a good bugfix in the future we will always provide this as a hotfix outside of the normal release-cycle. We still experiment on other bugfixes but since the lightdm version so far was the only one where we succeeded to boot and login after install we provided this now as a possible workaround-solution, hoping that when we will find a suitable working bugfix we can replace this workaround with the final fix. So far the poll indicates that this is what the majority would prefer.

I do believe when they do a release like this that lightdm is the normal greeter anyway. Every other one that I’ve read about uses it instead of sddm.
