Good news everyone!
Since the Poll so far indicates a clear vote for the lightdm-solution, we will release iBuntu 2.0 Lix Sur this weekend with this greeter – knowing it’s not the “best” solution but at least it’s a working solution. And at the end of the day it’s just the login-greeter we talk about.
When you boot the Live-System, you will have to press once “Enter” to log into the live-session.
After the Installation you will have to type in your chosen username and password manually on each login because of security reasons.
If a programmer / coder is here in our community who likes to play around with this versionand maybe find out the bug within sddm/calamares which causes sddm to not showing up we would be extreamly pleased if you would get in contact with us and share your knowledge – endless honorship by taking in your name or nickname as part of our team would be guaranteed 😉
Another nice fact I want to mention is that because of our little poll this week we got a little picture from where all over the world the people are coming who are interested in our little distribution – see for yourself:

We are really honored that a lot of people from different countries all over the world and all continents are waiting for our new Release and support our project here.
And even if you voted against the lightdm-solution, don’t be frustrated, we will still work on the actual sddm bugfix. It’s just that this really can last a long time since this bug isn’t the actual one which shut us down last week but is a followup-bug since we changed the Installer from Ubiquity to Calamares. And this Calamares-SDDM-Issue is following us since our first iBuntu 2.0 tests back in June now. That’s why we first wanted to use Ubiquity as Installer like in Version 1 – but as we said this will crash EFI-Systems so the unmaintained and outdated Ubiquity-Installer is really out of the game now.
So be prepared for the weekend, than we will release iBuntu 2.0 Lix Sur again and this time for good 😉
Oh yes and after the re-release we also will develop the iBuntu Lix Sur Migrator, the tool you will need when you are currently using Catalinux and want to Migrate to Lix Sur. We couldn’t develop it now since all our ressources were focussed on bugfixing for the last week but we will deliver this little tool within the next week and inform you separately.
So long

Yay , I’m so hyped 😀
